2011 Michigan QSO Party Soapbox |
39 QSOs, 26 counties, QRP
- ACØCD I enjoyed working my
former home State QSO Party - DL2HBX
Thanks to K8IR for activating Keweenaw county while 20m was open to EU.
This was the last MI county I had never worked. It was a lot of fun again -
DL3GA Had another great year
despite the 2" of snow this morning; see you in 2012 -
KØRJW It was a lot of fun working my
home state QSO party, thanks everyone for the contacts -
KØRU Trying new Hextenna -
K4GOP The QRN made it rough here in
VA at times. 73, Riley -
K4ORD I worked these few stations
in between contacts in the All American CW contest - K6CSL
GREAT SHOW! Congrats to the MIQP Committee and MRRC for putting on a great
event. Next year, though, tell the weather people that snow and freezing rain
isn't really a good show during the MIQP period. But it was fun, fun, fun,
except for the freezing cold wind ice, and snow during takedown. Thanks to The
Lowell Amateur Radio club for use of the location high on a hill outside Morley,
Michigan - K6JSS/meco (N8XX op.)
First time with the Michigan QSO party. Had a great time. Only had 4-5 hours to
work but had a ball. Thanks to all of my contacts for working me. Just getting
started with some contesting and enjoying it. I will be back next year. Thanks
again -
K8DRT Good conditions on 40. Lots of good ops and a share
of lids again. Not many rovers heard in Ingham county. All but 20 counties
worked. Tired the day after - K8GVK
I decided not to go QRP for this one since I would only be on part
time. I was CW only as I couldn't find my mic adapter - K8MM
Great to finally have good propagation after all those years in the sunspot
minimum! But we could have done without the snow. But as always, a great time
and a fine start to spring - K8MR/m
Portable Iosco County. FT100D running 100 W Carolina Windom 80 up 55 Feet - K8SIA
The contest started very rough for us with a shortage of ops and interference in
the CW shack. The weather was crummy but the bands were good. Fifteen was a real
pleasure this year with over 300 Qs. Now if we can just get 10m to come
alive! We had plenty of food, lots of laughs and good time was had by all. We
did miss the challenge from the K8MQP gang and hope they're back next year.
Thanks to all who gave us a call and QSY'd for us - K8XXX
Lots of activity and really strong signals. 40 stayed short well into the
evening. Good time - K9BTQ I
had a disagreement with the logging program; I did send number 28 to two
stations - KA3EEO Oh Shucks,
only worked two thirds of the counties, but had a good time doing it. There is
always next year for the other third. Thanks to all the mobiles for the counties
they put out -
KA9JAC Best contest of the year
- always a good time - KB9NK TU FB MiQP
agn this yr es 73 - KB9YGD Just
about a half-bore effort between golf tournaments, orchestra competition and a
leaking fuel line on the vehicle. Thanks to all for the contacts and supporting
the Michigan QSO Party -
KD8GOX Great contest. Look
forward to next year - KD8JRH
Thanks for the opportunity for Michigan contacts -
KE6IUE Wish I could have operated
more than just an hour - KG8JK
How do I attribute my score to the Monroe County Radio Club? -
KG8P
Had a good time operating CW with the fixed stations and elusive mobiles. Good
band conditions. Enjoyed the activity -
KN4Y Another Great Year -
KN8N Poor Condx here and THEN
the thunder storms came! See ya next year -
N1ABY Thanks to the sponsors
and all who participated in the party. Thanks to the mobiles in the face of high
gas prices, led by Jim/K8MR and crew with the most Qs - N4PN
One last hurrah for my old Tempo One before I sell it off to make room for my
new toy. I figured it'd sell better if I could say it won Ottawa in the MiQP,
hi. CW is a pain with a barn-door IF but I did make a few QSOs with the key
nonetheless -
N8FQ Extremely tough weather
made 80m a QRN nightmare -
N8HKU Tough contest; wind blew
down portable set-up and ice storm knocked out power at cabin an hour before
contest. Spent all afternoon getting generator running just as power was
restored -
N8OC N9FN and K9FN did our multi-op,
single transmitter operation from WB9WYR's QTH in Berrien, County just south of
Niles, MI -
N9FN Fun contest...wish I would have
had more time to participate. Hopefully, next year I'll get more seat time - NQ2W
Tnx for a fun contest - NW5Q
Thanks for this great contest. TS-570D(G) + Palstar
AT2K + AL-911H + Winkeyer USB, Ant 40m delta-loop on 40m and 20m - VE2EZD
Great activity this year. Conditions seemed good. Rig was FTdx5000 (100w)
and Butternut HF6V vertical -
W1END Great fun - see you next year -
W1KDA I was working the contest part-time in the afternoon
between errands - W2UDT Thanks for sponsoring, organizing, and administering
this event - W4JHU Thanks to
all for putting on a great party -
W4UCZ Poor conditions this year
and some QRM from Manchester Miniera - W5ESE
First time as a club, Great time - W8AB
Was my first MiQP. And tried it mobile no less AND Loved it. Can't wait for next
year -
W8FSM It was fun using W8M...can't
wait 'til next year -
W8M (N8MRC op.) Another wonderful
MiQP, and this year we started on time. However, Murphy came to visit via the
logging program midway thru the test resulting in almost 1 hour of downtime.
But, we ran 3 stations all under 100W, 2 PH and 1 CW, and think we've set a good
high-water mark for the EOC category. 73 and thanks for the Qs - W8OAK
EOC for Shiawassee County, MI. Lots of signals with good operators. Very Good
Time -
W8QQQ First time with the MiQP and
had a lot of fun. Murphy hit me right out of the gate. PC didn't recognize my
plug and play keyboard. When I got that resolved, I had a loose connection from
my amp to the xcvr. By the time I got these 2 issues fixed, it was 20 minutes
after start time! Then I spent the last 15 minutes of the contest trying to work
K8MR in Newaygo county to no avail! I saw that I was nip and tuck most of the
last few hours with N6MU from the So. Cal. Contest Club. I think he beat me
unless I had more mults -
WA6KHK Another great time after my
rookie year in 2010. Improved my score and learned a lot about contesting
in the process. See you in 2012 -
WB2REI/8 First time in MIQP, enjoyed
it. Used SD. Found the advice to check a log program before the contest to
be very good advice. Went through some of my learning curve during the contest. - WB8TQZ
Great Contest. 80/75 were noisy. Shocked when OM2VL called me on 80, thought for
sure he was a W or a K. Nice signal. - WB8WKQ
Condx seemed decent - I wish I was better using the contest logging software
- WI8A
