The

Mad River Radio Club

The Michigan QSO Party is sponsored by the Mad River Radio Club (MRRC), an ARRL-affiliated club focused on contesting.  It is believed to be the oldest contesting club in the ARRL Great Lakes Division.

MRRC was founded in April 1971, to provide camaraderie between contesters in the division, and also to compete nationally in the Affiliated Club Competitions of ARRL contests.  Over the years MRRC has won the Medium Club gavel three times for the ARRL November Sweepstakes (SS) and once for the ARRL 160 Meter Contest.

The MRRC roster typically has between 70-80 members.  The geographic center of the club is Findlay, OH and the club area (as defined for ARRL Club Competitions) extends for a radius of 175 miles as approximated on the logo above.

MRRC publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, the FLASH and has an active e-mail reflector.  (This is in addition to the MiQP reflector described elsewhere on this site.)

MRRC counts among its ranks some of the most active contesters in the Great Lakes area.  Not all are 'big guns', but all love amateur radio competition.  If this sounds interesting, we'd like to invite you to visit the MRRC web site http://www.madriverradioclub.org and check it out for yourself.
