Cherryland Amateur Radio Club

Ogemaw-Arenac Amateur Radio Society

South Lyon Area Amateur Radio Club

This year, the top spot amongst Michigan clubs was grabbed by the Cherryland Amateur Radio Club, with a score of 441,413 points.  The secret to their success was combining two large scores (the N8KV #2 multi-single score and N8TC's #2 single-op low power entry) plus AA4R (#8 multi-single) and six other smaller scores, for nine entries total, tying with the Blossomland ARA for the most entries from a Michigan club in 2013.  While the Cherryland ARC is certainly no stranger to the leader's box, they are to be congratulated on is their first win in the club competition in the modern era of MiQP (i.e., since 1999).

The second place club is a name relatively new to the leader's box of the MiQP club competition, that is the Ogemaw-Arenac Amateur Radio Society with a score of 284,532 points.  OAARS combined the #1 single-op high power score (from K8BZ) with seven other smaller scores for a total of eight entries, only one behind Cherryland and Blossomland in terms of the number of entries by a Michigan club this year.

In third place is a club which has often been in the club competition, but this is their first entry in the top-three box, the South Lyon Area Amateur Radio Club, with 196,575 points.  SLAARC had only four entries, but one of those was the #1 multi-single entry under their club call N8SL, which in combination with three other smaller club entries was enough to grab the third spot.

Society of Midwest Contesters

North Coast Contesters

Minnesota Wireless Association

The winning out-of-state club for 2013 is no stranger to the top spot.  Our colleagues to the southwest of Michigan, the Society of Midwest Contesters complied a total of 85,015 points from five entries to lead the field of non-Michigan clubs. stepped up from #2 last year and grabbed the top spot among out-of-state clubs with a score of 79,301 points from six entries.  At the top of their contributors was the #1 Eastern Region single-op score from N4PN.

In second place was the  North Coast Contesters with 45,857 points.  NCC had six entries, including the N2CU #7 Eastern Region single-op score.

Just behind NCC in third place in the Out-Of-State Club leaders box was the Minnesota Wireless Association with 33,120 points.  MWA added one entry and 4K compared to their second place total from 2013, but still had to settle for third place.

Once again, we would like to point out that scores for an in-state club must be made from Michigan, and scores for an out-of-state club must be made from outside of Michigan.  In some cases, there were clubs which had member scores from both areas.  In these cases we treat the member's scores outside the club's "home" region as a separate club, and if there were two or more such entries, these appear in the results.  (For example, MRRC had six entries from Ohio, so these are shown as "MRRC non-MI".)
